Digitalisation in the Maritime Industry: State-of-the-Art Technologies
We’re launching our Monthly Webinar Series connecting global maritime experts to advance safe digital transformation!
“Digitalisation in the Maritime Industry: State-of-the-Art Technologies”
First Webinar featuring Dr. MOHD FAKRI MUDA, Visiting Researcher, Kyoto University | Academic, Universiti Teknologi MARA
Dr. Fakri will explore how healthcare-style continuous monitoring is revolutionizing offshore pipeline operations. The session covers advanced sensing technologies, including ultrasonic, fiber-optic, and smart pigging systems, alongside AI and machine learning applications for anomaly detection and corrosion prognosis. Learn how digital twins and structural health monitoring integrate with risk-based inspection frameworks, and discover practical strategies for implementing these cutting-edge solutions in harsh marine environments to achieve safer, longer-lived assets.
About SADIT-MAR
We are honoured to announce that SADIT-MAR has been awarded a major academic grant from Lloyd’s Register Foundation (LRF) to launch the project:
Establishing an Interdisciplinary Academic Network for Safe Digital Transformation in the Maritime Industry (SADIT-MAR)
This initiative will run from September 2025 to August 2027. SADIT‑MAR aims to build a global academic network that promotes safe, inclusive, and sustainable digital transformation across the maritime sector—bridging the technological gap between high‑ and middle‑income countries.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration, international conferences, thematic workshops, research visits, and training programs, SADIT‑MAR will:
Foster innovation in maritime safety and digital resilience
Build capacity through global cooperation and knowledge sharing
Address the human, technical, legal, and regulatory dimensions of maritime digitalisation
The project unites leading institutions, including:
Yildiz Technical University (Türkiye)
University College London (UCL, UK)
Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH, Germany)
University of Rostock (Germany)
University of Malaysia Terengganu (Malaysia)
University of the Americas Puebla (Mexico)
Together, we will advance maritime safety through research, training, and evidence‑based policy development—ensuring digital transformation benefits all regions equitably.
We are deeply grateful to Lloyd’s Register Foundation for their trust and support in making this vision a reality.
